Nigro Group
Kavli Institute's Perception and Cognition Group
Accurate sensory perceptions of the world depend on the brain’s ability to effectively integrate the many streams of incoming sensory information into a single, unified perceptual experience—a process known as multisensory integration.
Aim
The Nigro Group seeks to understand how multisensory integration in the perirhinal cortex—a hub for multisensory integration—contributes to cognition and behaviour.
Key research questions
- What role do different cell-types play in multisensory integration?
- How does multisensory integration occur on a network level?
- What is the impact of multisensory integration on behaviours such as object exploration?
