This year’s edition features the Practitioners’ Day on the 10th of July at St. Olavs Hospital from 9:00 to 17:30, with the theme “Enabling Healthcare Innovations Through Operations Research”. This day will focus on practical issues in logistics and operations of hospitals and health services. 

We want to bring together researchers, healthcare professionals and managers, students, and industry leaders, all dedicated to improving the delivery, efficiency, and quality of health services. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to share your own experiences, as well as learn how others address staff shortages, work to reduce waiting times, or strengthen the interaction between primary and specialist healthcare to provide better services. 

Programme

The day will start with the practice-oriented plenary by Lina Grännö, head of planning and monitoring at Karolinska University Hospital. We will continue with presentations from practice, where healthcare practitioners will show how they use OR to address key challenges faced by healthcare services. After lunch, we will have a case discussion, where OR-experts will explore approaches and potential solutions to practical cases from the Norwegian healthcare system. Afterwards, during the panel discussion, a panel of experts will discuss current trends, challenges and emerging opportunities in OR within healthcare.  The day will conclude with a pleasant dinner and opportunities to network with other participants at 19:00 at Clarion Hotel. 

Please note as this is an international conference that all presentations and discussions will be held in English.

Call for practical cases

Do you work in a Norwegian public health organization? Do you have an interesting practical case and would like to get advice from the ORAHS community? At the Practitioners’ Day you have the opportunity to send us a practical case within logistics, planning, or management and get insights and recommendations from OR-experts on how to address the issue. If you have an interesting case or would like to discuss its suitability, please contact us at orahs2025@iot.ntnu.no before 1st April 2025, before 2nd May 2025.

Do you have an interesting project where Operations Research is used to solve a practical issue and has been successfully implemented? At ORAHS 2025 we want to show how impactful Operations Research can be when it is implemented in practice. Registration

Registration fees differ per practitioner type. Practitioners from the municipality and public hospitals are classified as “public”, whereas practitioners from private companies, research organisations and academic institutions are considered “private”. In case of doubt, please contact us at orahs2025@iot.ntnu.no.

The registration fee covers refreshments, lunch and the conference dinner. You can register via the Registration page.
