Emergency telephone numbers and rescue services:

Currency/Exchange
- Norwegian Kroner (NOK). 1 NOK is divided into 100 øre (cents).
- Tipping at restaurants is approximately 10-15% but this is at your discretion, and is not as common as in some other countries.
- Payment method: Cash is acceptable but debit/credit cards are more commonly used.
Language
- Official langauge is Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk)
- Most understand English, Swedish and Danish.
ATB Travel App
- Most public transport in and around Trondehim can be paid for using a ATB Travel app.
- This includes public transport transfers to and from the airport. Not the Flybussen (flight bus) Værnes Ekspressen.

- YR is a Norwegian weather forecasting service, others are available.
- We advise that you check the weather forecasts daily and dress accordingly.
Electricity
- In Norway the power sockets are of type F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
- Electric appliances use continental-style two-pin plugs
VAT refund
- Numerous shops in Norway offer a VAT refund when leaving the country. Remember to ask the salesperson whether tax-free shopping applies to the shop in question.
