Giulia RIZZO was born in Turin, Italy, in 1992. She received her BEng Degree in Physics Engineering and her M.Sc. degree in Nanotechnologies Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2014 and 2017 respectively. She joined the Erasmus program during the academic year 2015-2016 at École nationale supérieure de physique, électronique et Matériaux Phelma INP in Grenoble. In march 2016 she moved to Houston, USA, for her master thesis. There, she worked at the Houston Methodist Research Institute, where she developed an implantable nanochannel drug delivery device, telecontrolled via Bluetooth, sponsored by NASA. This role gained her exposure to hospital environment and experience in modelling and design of WPT implantable devices.
She started her current role in May 2017, under the WiBEC European project, as an R&D Engineer at ValoTec; where she is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Micro and Nanoelectronics, in partnership with Université Paris Sud. Her project title is Encapsulation and mechanical integration for implantable devices which uses wireless power transmission and energy harvesting.
