WP3 objectives

Main Objective:

The major objective of WP 3 is to develop a sediment erosion model for the Francis turbine.

Secondary Objective:

  1. Develop a numerical model for flow field analysis of the Francis turbine and its validation with experimental measurements from NTNU.
  2. Develop a sediment erosion model incorporating scaling between different materials used in the verification tests and for the prototype turbine.
  3. Develop an experimental setup to verify the sediment erosion model for Francis turbine
  4. Incorporate the sediment erosion model in ANSYS and validate the CFD model for the erosion of Francis turbine.
  5. CFD-analysis of the sediment erosion of the Francis turbine
