Coastal areas and shallow seas concentrate people, economic activities and environmental assets, providing major opportunities as well as conflicts and hazards. These issues are dynamic. Growing coastal populations and economies, degrading ecosystem services and climate change trends lead to an uncertain future. There is a need for young engineers that can develop innovative and enterprising approaches to tackle these complex and emerging issues.
Study at three or four European universities
Master in Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management is a collaboration between five universities from four countries. Each student will get to study at three or four of the partner universities.

You will study key issues that focus on sustainable, environmental friendly, ethical, and economical acceptable solutions in response to the multiple challenges relevant to the field of coastal and marine engineering. You will acquire knowledge on the most advanced tools and techniques.

Your day as a student on Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management (CoMEM+) will consist of lectures, laboratory work, field trips, use of relevant software, group work, presentations and production of posters.

This Erasmus Mundus Master's degree programme extends over two academic years and constitutes a course load of 120 ECTS.
Study at three or four European universities
- Your first semester will be a common semester at NTNU in Norway
- In the second and third semester you follow your chosen study track. You can spend your second and third semester at two different partner universities. You can choose between three study tracks; Future Ports and Waterways, Coastal Environmental Engineering and Shore Management.
- In the fourth and final semester you write your master's thesis at one of the institutions that you have visited.
The universities participating in the Erasmus Mundus Master in Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management (CoMEM+) are:
- Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway
- Builders École d'ingénieurs in France
- University of Caen Normandy in France
- Universitat Politecnica Catalunya in Spain
- University of Genoa in Italy

Minimum requirements in order for applicants to be considered:
- You must hold a BSc degree in Coastal-, Civil-, Ocean- or Environmental Engineering; or BSc degree in Marine sciences, Earth sciences, Oceanography, Environmental sciences. The degree should comprise a minimum of 180 ECTS. You must have a minimum of 30 ECTS in mathematics/statistics in your BSc degree.
- English proficiency.
- A minimum requirement for admission to this programme is the grade C or better on the ECTS scale.
