ABSTRACTS for HPC-Lab 10yr Anniversary Workshop 2018
Title: OPM for reservoir simulation
by Dr. Alf Rustad, Statoil Research
We will present the current state of flow, the reservoir simulator within OPM. Particular focus will be on high performance computing aspects. This includes challenges and achievements related to assembly, i.e., constructing the Jacobian. Just as important, we will outline current state of preconditioners and linear solvers. Both assembly and linear solve will be explained in the setting of parallel computing and alternative hardware architectures.
Title: IBM AC922, Newell, the building block of #1 & #3 of TOP500
by Kristoffer Pettersson, Cognitive Systems & High Performance Computing at IBM, Gothenburg, Sweden
This presentation will describe the Summit and Sierra supercomputers, currently #1 and #3 on the TOP 500 list, the unique approach to system wide performance and how it was built by a consortium led by IBM.
We will also take a in depth look at the AC922 server from IBM, a.k.a. Newell, the building block behind both Summit & Sierra.
Title:Nvidia - HPC + AI Technology outlook
by Alex Koehler, Solution Architect, NVIDIA
This presentation will highlight the following:
- HPC and AI - breakthrough Science on new TESLA Supercomputers
- CUDA 10 , OpenACC and NGC Software update
- HPC and Neural Networks w CUDNN , CUBLAS, NVLINK, NVSWITCH (DGX-2) and Tensorcores
- Q&A
