Who goes where?

Who goes where?

Academic clusters affected by a unified campus

  • HumSam: The humanities and social science academic communities are intended to be located in the southeastern part of the Gløshaug plateau, in the area from Oppredningen/Skiboli to Sentralbygg 1 and Mellombyggene. This requires a development with new buildings combined with redevelopment in the area.

  • KAMD: Academic environment for art, architecture, music and design will be located in the north along Høyskolebakken. NTNU also has a letter of intent with NRK on co-location, and there is a dialogue about various opportunities near campus. Political consideration of upcoming zoning plans will set limits for how much and in what way it can be built in the area.

  • Health and social sciences: Located on Øya today. This cluster will be strengthened when the Centre for Mental Health is built. The centre is a co-location between St. Olav's Hospital and NTNU; Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences and the Department of Mental Health at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Centre for Mental Health was previously part of the framework of NTNU's unified campus, but was taken out of the total framework autumn of 2021, due to the model chosen.

  • Economics and Innovation: To day, large parts of the Faculty of Economics, are based in NTNU Business School. In NTNU's unified campus, the rest of the academic communities at the economics faculty will gather together with other innovation communities in the south-west and develop an innovation centre in the connection between the economic environments in NTNU Business School and the technology communities on the Gløshaugen plateau.

Already established academic clusters that are affected by campus gathering and to be strengthened:

  • Natural Sciences: The Department of Materials Technology (IMA) is currently located in the southeastern part of Gløshaugen, where HumSam is planned to be located. When the IMA moves, it is planned that the department will gather with the other cluster for Natural Sciences, which is mainly centered around Realfagsbygget.

  • Information technology and electrical engineering: The development of central learning areas in the central axis of the Gløshaugen plateau means that the communities that is located there today will move. When the Department of Mathematics currently based in the central axis is moved, it is desirable that the department gathers with the other cluster of Information technology and electronics along the western axis of the Gløshaugen plateau.

  • Engineering: Located on the eastern side of the Gløshaugen plateau and down towards Valgrinda today. Should basically still be here, but with some adjustments.

  • The Science Museum: Will be given new areas for dissemination, exhibitions and magazines. The modernisation will involve rebuilding existing areas, as well as possible new buildings. Funding for the remodeling of the magazines in the University Museum is included in the framework of NTNU's unified campus.

User involvement in NTNU's unified campus

To develop a campus for the benefit of NTNU's core business, we need knowledge from end users and stakeholders.
