Centre for Real Estate and Facilities Management
NTNU’s Centre for Real Estate and Facilities Management / "Metamorphosis" is a working and meeting place for teaching and research in the field, based on a collaboration between several faculties at NTNU and SINTEF Building and Infrastructure. The centre was established after pressure from the real estate industry.
The main objective of the centre is to provide research-based educational programs and expertise for property development and management at NTNU, which can contribute to good solutions and strategic value for homeowners, builders, property managers and developers, builders and users.
"Metamorphosis" is a concept that involves the transformation / change of a building during its lifecycle, and the centre's focus is to see buildings and properties from this perspective.
The centre was established in 2005 with an experience-based Master program in Real Estate and Facilities Management (part-time), and followed a full time Master the following year. The centre also offers a PhD program in the field.
The centre forms the basis for networking between teaching, research and practice in property development and management in Norway and other universities in the Nordic countries, as well as universities and academic institutions in many other countries such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the United States. The centre's contributions in research rest in several areas in internationally.
The centre was established with support from the Norwegian Research Council through the project "Metamorphosis 2005 - Property and Facilities Management." The project was implemented at NTNU during the period 2002-2006 in cooperation with industry associations, businesses and government agencies and research institutes. After completion of the project at the end of 2006, the State Building Technology and Administration has been an important supporter. The overall operation of the centre will be supported with our partner companies through an annual operating grant.
