Lab facilities

Lab facilities

The well-furnished mechanical lab serves the national and international needs for testing materials and large-scale structural components to ensure their reliability and safety in diverse operating environments.

Equipped with a range of hydraulic machines (from 100 kN up to 5 MN), the facilities have the capability to test everything from full-scale components and heavy mooring chains to smaller material samples. Characterization of material properties, fatigue testing, and strength capacity experiments are services offered by the lab. The lab has a long and proud history of testing of steel, aluminium, and eco-materials such as timber.

Together with the academic expertise, the facilities provide the basis for technology development, pioneering innovative solutions for sustainable and durable structures. The mechanical lab extends support to public and private industry partners, offering expertise and resources that catalyze advancements in construction practices.
