About Svante Prado
Svante Prado
My name is Svante Prado. I am an associate professor in economic history at Unit for Economic History, Department of Economy and Society, School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg. My research spans three different fields: first, wages and labour markets in Sweden across the nineteenth and twentieth century; second: comparative levels of labour productivity since 1870; and third, Swedish income distribution between 1860 and 1970. My teaching is focused on environmental history and modern economic growth.

The University of Gothenburg has 47 500 students and 6 000 employees. The Department of Economy and Society consists of three units: Economic history; Human geography; and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It offers education and conducts research within each of the three disciplines. It offers several courses at both bachelor and advanced levels (Master), as well as several master programs. Most of the research and teaching activities at the department is conducted separately at each unit but it also offers a program and some master courses that takes a cross-discipline approach, with a global perspective and a focus on sustainable development. The number of employees is 69, among which 26 are professors, lecturers, and researchers, 6 are post docs and 17 are PhD students.
