Elena San Román
Elena San Román, (PhD.), is an Associated Professor of Economic History at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). Her research interests focuses on the 20th Century Business History and, mainly on family and entrepreneurial firms. Her current research is dealing with the Spanish tourism sector. She is currently co-principal researcher of a competitive public research project on ‘Collective entrepreneurship, innovation and internationalisation in Spanish service firms’ funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. She is an external researcher associated to the "Sustainable Business Development through Entrepreneurship and Innovation Platform", of the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (Misum) at the Stockholm School of Economics (Suecia).

The Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) is a Higher education institution (tertiary level), whose origin dates back to the late 13th century. The Universidad Complutense is one of the 100 best universities in the world in employability and academic prestige, according to the QS World University Ranking. It is a public and mostly on-site university.
The UCM has 26 Faculties, 9 Affiliated Centers, with a total of 6,623 students registered, and 78,572 students registered. It has a 13 % of Foreign students and a Teaching staff composed of 5,939 lecturers (out of which 668 are full professors). The UCM offers 70 Graduate degrees, 154 Msc degrees and 57 PhD programs.
UCM is involved in cooperation agreements with more than 400 universities all around the world and in more than 900 Erasmus+ agreements with European Institutions. The international vocation of the University is reflected in its Statutes, which include among its competences and priorities, "the promotion of international mobility and exchange of teachers and students in the international domain, specifically in the context of European Higher Education Area". Likewise, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid has among its main goals an active engagement in other actions of the Erasmus+ Programme, such as Jean Monnet, Erasmus Mundus and Actions 2 and 3 which aim to promote Partenariates, Knowledge Alliances and participation in Networks. The UCM deep international vocation has been demonstrated throughout the years and would be consolidated through this new project.
