Area plan for campus in Ålesund

An area plan has been developed to strengthen and develop the campus hub in Ålesund. The area zoning will form the basis for a future comprehensive development of the campus area as a power center for competence, innovation and sustainable development.

Campus in Ålesund as an urban, outreached and environmentally friendly hub

The area plan will facilitate growth and development for the university and the other campus partnersand lay the ground for an urban, comprehensive and environmentally friendly hub. The work on the area plan will further contribute to making it easier to choose public transport, walking and cycling as means of transport and create a more urban function mix and continuous street space.

Ålesund municipality

Ålesund municipality is the owner of the area plan. The plan is a part of the municipal planning strategy and overall planning, which includes VAP, Møre og Romsdal county municipality, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Statsbygg and NTNU as partners. Rodeo architects AS and ÅF Consult AS have been plan consultant and process manager for the first draft of the area plan.

Completion in 2019

The area plan was first treated in the municipality of Ålesund in June 2017. The area plan which has been under consultation, has according to the municipality of Ålesund been considerably reworked. Among other things the Public Transport hub has been adjusted and a new student house has been added. The area plan will be processed for a second time during the spring 2019, with expected completion by the end of 2019.
