About

FranSed stands for Francis Turbine for Sediment Laden Waters. The FranSed project aims towards scientific and technological breakthroughs to enable hydropower turbines to operate with high sediment concentration and sediment load.

This is a project with a budget of approximately NOK 19.5 million funded by HydroCen, Energize Nepal and other sources.The project activities are jointly carried out by NTNU/HydroCen, Kathmandu University of Nepal (KU) and Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IITR).

The project has been started on 1 September, 2018 and will be completed within four years.
