In our group, we have tried to think about how to extend the principles of RRI - anticipation, reflexivity, inclusiveness and responsiveness, to non-human animals. In this presentation, we share our experiences with non-human animals which have led us to explore RRI in those terms. In particular, we think that this would allow to open up on questions such as:

  • Who created subcategories (e.g: pets vs farm animals)?
  • At what point of our lives have we learnt that some animals have the right to live while others don’t?
  • How do we justify these categories from an ethical perspective?
  • If such categories are socially learnt, can we also learn to extend our love and care to all animals?
