Wednesday 10.- Thursday 11. May 2023, we organize a seminar on clustering and precipitation in aluminium alloys in Orkanger, close to Trondheim, Norway.

Talks and topics will include advanced experimental characterization techniques (TEM, APT, DSC, SAXS..) at the nanoscale and novel atomistic modelling in aluminium alloy design with focus on nucleation and early stages, and how to manipulate thermomechanical processing to obtain the best alloy properties. We invite researchers, postdocs and PhD students interested in these topics to participate – also with talks and posters!

Participation is free, but you have to register on the home page before 12 April 2023. If you want to give a presentation (talk or poster) please register this on the homepage before 1 April 2023!

Accommodation and travel (Not included in participation)

Participants have to order and pay accommodation and travel themselves.

The venue for the seminar is Bårdshaug Herregård at Orkanger, which is a 30 minutes bus trip from Trondheim.

At Bårdshaug Herregård single rooms will include breakfast and free WiFi at a price of 1180 NOK person/night, or 688 NOK person/night in a 2-person shared room.

To get this discount, the hotel accommodation should be booked directly from the hotel before 25 April 2023, by using the reference “NTNU Seminar MAI”. Please email post@baardshaug.no for reservations. The hotel will try to accommodate your wishes if you choose to book a bed in a shard room. Be sure to provide additional information to the hotel upon booking.

The seminar starts Wednesday morning at 10.00 and ends Thursday evening at 17.00. Travel to Trondheim should be planned accordingly. We will organise a bus from NTNU campus to Orkanger on Wednesday morning and a return bus after the seminar on Thursday evening. Please register your interest in the online registration above.

The hotel can be booked a day in advance or an extended day for 1770 person/night in a single room.

Bus to and from Orkanger

On Wednsday 10 May, the bus will leave from Scandic Bakklandet at 08:00 and from NTNU main building at approximately 08:10. Please be on time if you want to join the bus ride. The bus will not wait.

On Thursday 11 May, the bus will go back to Trondheim from Bårdshaug Herregård at approximately 17:15 and go via NTNU main building and Scandic Bakklandet.

Tuesday 9 May you are invited to a guided tour of the Hydro aluminium plant at Sunndalsøra. This is the largest and most modern primary aluminium plant in Europe, link. More information is coming, be sure to register.
