Trondheim is a city on the Trondheim Fjord, in central Norway. With a population of 210,000, Trondheim is not a big city on a European scale. However, it is the third largest in Norway. Founded in 997 a.d. by King Olav Trygvason (his monument can be seen in the middle of the town square) Archealogists have forund traces from settlements here, dating back to 400 b.c.

More than 30.000 students contribute to making Trondheim a vibrant city. Key words for Trondheim are history, technology and local food. Trondheim has an exciting and rich restaurant scene with several Michelin restaurants. Trondheim and the Trøndelag region was awarded European Region of Gastronomy 2022 by IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism).

Nidaros Cathedral, built over the grave of St. Olav, is the national sanctuary of Norway. It is also one of the most popular sights in Trondheim. Dating back to the 11th century, Gothic Nidaros Cathedral features an ornate rose window and a detailed west facade.

See cathedral website.
