You apply for admissions directly at NTNUs søknadsweb.
Admittance to the programme requires a completed Bachelor's degree comparable to a Norwegian Bachelor's degree with a specialization in performing music in classical music, jazz or similar. You must also be able to document Higher Education Entrance Qualification. Musical CV and Letter of Motivation describing your plans for the in-depth study must be submitted together with the audition video(s) January 15.
Deadline for application: December 15.
Søknadsweb will open for applications from November 1 2023.
Audition
As a part of the application, you have to submit a video for the first round of the audition process. If you get an invitation to the second round of auditions, these will take place in week 9 and 10. The applicants must document the qualifications required to achieve the study objectives. Admission is based on an appraisal of the applicant’s artistic level and possibilities.

Application procedure EU applicants
- Application deadline December 15 – for admittance to the fall semester the following year. Submit all documentation of HEEQ (Higher Education Entrance Qualification) along with your application in

- In order for your application to be processed, you have to upload all required documents within the application deadline.
Documentation required for EU applicants (citizenship): Secondary school diploma, Bachelor’s diploma (only for master) and transcripts, documentation of English language, documentation of Norwegian language (only for bachelor studies), passport, CV, country specific and programme specific requirements.
All documentation must be uploaded by December 15.
- Please upload ALL documents in PDF format and do NOT upload any other documents than the required ones. Make sure that all documents are clearly marked in a comprehensible manner, i.e. that they are named according to content, such as "transcript", "documentation of English" etc. Do NOT group all your documents into one file.
- Are you completing a degree this academic year? The deadline for submitting documentation of ongoing degrees is July 1.

2. Fill in form received by e-mail, including audition videos
Deadline January 15
In the mail you received following your application, you will find a link to a form for attaching:
- your personal information, Musical CV and Letter of Motivation
- links to your first round audition videos
- any accompaniment sheet music you need to submit for the second round (If you are in need of accompaniment, we will provide this for you. Submit the sheet music for the accompanist by January 15)
- Information about video recording and repertoire
3. Second round – physical audition
Applicants who move on from the first round to physical auditions in week 9 or 10, will receive an e-mail with information by the middle of February.
Solo instrument/vocals/EUJAM:
- Minimum 20 minutes repertoire that shows breadth and variety.
- The repertoire should reflect the applicant's desired specialization for the executive master's program.

TUITION FEES AT NTNU STARTING 2023
Starting from the 2023/2024 academic year, students with citizenship from countries outside the EU/EEA area or Switzerland will be required to pay tuition fees while studying in Norway.
For the Master of Arts Programme in Music Performance, the tuition fee is currently NOK 373 550 per academic year (2023/2024).
In some cases, students from outside the EU/EEA area or Switzerland may be exempted from the tuition fee requirement. More information about tuition fee exemptions and how to apply for an exemption is available here.
The tuition fee requirement does not apply to students who have been admitted to the programme before Autumn 2023.
NTNU does not offer any scholarships that cover tuition fees.
Information for non-EU applicants
- All international students who are not citizens of EU/EEA/EFTA countries must be able to document that they have enough funding to live in Norway in order to be granted a student visa.
- EUJAM students from non-EU countries must apply for visa in the second and third semester when going on exchange outside Norway. They also have to show documentation of funding for the last semester in Norway.
- Non-EU students can not work as freelancers in Norway, due to Visa regulations. They can however work up to 20 hour a week as a regular employee.
