Master in Interaction Design

Programme structure

This Master programme extends over two academic years (4 semesters) and constitutes a course load of 120 ECTS credits in a combination of compulsory and elective courses. 

In order to graduate you must complete all compulsory courses, as well as a sufficient number of elective courses to achieve the required number of credits.

1st year

The first year consists of compulsory and elective courses providing relevant knowledge and skills within Interaction design.

Central topics are: 

  • Scientific methodology and communication
  • Human cognition and behaviour
  • Usability theories and testing, tangible interaction
  • Information architecture
  • User-centred and participatory design methodology

2nd year

In the third and fourth semester you will have the opportunity to specialise in a relevant area of your choice. 

In the third semester you develop your thesis proposal and conduct a research-oriented project, which opens up for an individual specialisation.

Master's thesis

The fourth semester is devoted to writing your master's thesis, with a duration of 20 weeks.

The master’s thesis is the final examination where you show that you are able to use the knowledge and skills that you have acquired through your studies to complete an independent research or development work. 

The final evaluation includes an oral examination in addition to assessment of the thesis.

Student exchange

You can go on exchange abroad in the second or third semester. For students aiming for an exchange in one of these semesters, we recommend taking the compulsory courses in the first semester.
