Programme structure - Design of Services, Technology and Interaction – Master's Programme
Programme structure
Design of services, technology and interaction is a session-based master's that can be taken full-time over two years or part-time over four years. The sessions take place physically at NTNU in Gjøvik and will amount to up to 15 days per semester for full-time studies.
Students choose whether they want part-time or full-time studies as soon as possible after the start of the first semester and no later than 15 September.
Note that the written exam is in Gjøvik and that digital lectures will take place during daytime.

The programme consists of 120 credits distributed between the following courses:
Full time:
1st semester
- Design for Change 1 (15 credits)
- Research Methods (7.5 credits)
- Introduction to Design, Technology and Society (7.5 credits)
2nd semester
- Design for Change 2 (15 credits)
- Experts in Teamwork (7.5 credits)
- Elective course (7.5 credits)
3rd semester
- Design for Technology in Transition (7.5 credits)
- In-depth Project in Research Groups (7.5 credits)
- Design Management (7.5 credits)
- Elective course (7.5 credits)
4th semester
- Master's thesis (30 credits)
Part time:
1st semester
- Introduction to Design,Technology and Society (7.5 credits)
- Research Methods (7.5 credits)
2nd semester
- Experts in Teamwork (7.5 credits)

Study tour
In the 2nd semester, a voluntary excursion will be organized where the aim is to get inspiration from the best design projects in Norway and to establish networks within the design and architecture industry in Norway.
Exchange studies
The Department of Design has several exchange agreements with universities in Europe, including Politecnico di Milano in Italy, Universiteit Antwerpen in Belgium, Technishe Hochschule Köln in Germany and Universität für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, Austria.
