Learning outcome
KNOWLEDGE: The master thesis provides the student with knowledge and specialization within a specific topics such as: Energy flexible heating systems - hydronic systems; Heat pumps for climatization; Intelligent and energy sufficient buildings; Modeling and simulation of HVAC systems - Indoor climate, health, well being and productivity; HVAC-systems in practice; Air flow pattern in rooms and buildings; and Safety and fire ventilation.
SKILLS: The master thesis should enable the student to work with scientific methods, including acquisition of complementary knowledge from literature and other sources, and how to combine this with own knowledge.
GENERAL COMPETENCE: After ended master thesis the student should be able to:
- Be competent in completion of a major independent project, including preparing a project plan with milestones, reporting of partial results and writing the project report;
- Be able to apply this expertise in developing and designing energy efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.

Information about writing and submitting your master thesis Oppgaveskriving. The master thesis has to be submitted in NTNU's examination system Inspera Assessment. The deadline for submitting the master thesis is 20 weeks from the starting date (the students have additional 6 weeks if they are writing a master thesis abroad.) + 7 days for Easter/Christmas holidays. Applications for an extended deadline must be submitted to the faculty. Students who fail the master thesis, can submit a new or revised thesis once. It is not possible to improve an awarded grade by submitting a new thesis. The deadline for the assessment of the master thesis is 3 months.
