Course content
Specialization through a literature review of theme within Norwegian Sign Langauage and/or interpreting that the students select
Learning outcome
Candidates
- can delineate a theme and define a problem
- have basic knowledge of some relevant research methods
- have detailed knowledge within a defined field of study (the theme of the thesis)
- can find and evaluate relevant information and subject material and present it so that it illuminates a theme
- can present and discuss theoretical knowledge and practical experiences connected to a delineated problem within a theme
- can plan and conduct a project lasting over time in cooperation with others and in accordance with ethical demands and guidelines
- can present the subject matter in an academic text and refer correctly to academic sources used
Learning methods and activities
- Lectures, group work, examinations of source material, field work and supervision from teacher.
- Approved obligatory assignments are valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.

Further on evaluation
An individual bachelor thesis must consist of approximately 7000- 8000 words, excluding references and appendices. Students writing group theses, must consult with the course teacher regarding number of words. All aids allowed. It is not possible to write a bachelor's thesis in semesters where this course is not taught/no supervision is offered. Students who wish to retake the course to improve their grade, must submit a new thesis on a new topic.
The bachelor’s thesis is normally written in Norwegian. If the thesis is written in English or in another non-Scandinavian language, the students must include an abstract in Norwegian in their thesis.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Norwegian Sign Language (LTBATGTOLK)
Required previous knowledge
Completed the second year of the BA-program in Norwegian Sign Language, specialization interpreting or specialization Norwegian Sign Language, except Examen Philosophicum. Requires admission to the BA-program in Norwegian Sign Language.
