About

About the course

Course content

TEGN1102 gives a basic introduction to how languages and languaging can be described as multimodal interaction, where different mechanisms contribute to create meaning. We will see that languages can be spoken languages and signed languages, and that some languages can be expressed both orally and in a written form. We will look at how differences in modality and forms of expression influence the conditions for communication. TEGN1102 also gives an introduction to basic linguistic concepts, and to how interaction and communication is adapted to differing human conditions on societal, group and individual levels. Students will learn to conduct a literature search and how to summarize the content of an academic text.
