About the course

Course content

The students will gain an understanding of leadership in school and sports, as well as insight into the characteristics of traditional and modern forms of management and organization. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of objectives and goal realization in school and sports. The students will analyze both their own experiences, and how changes in society and organizations can influence practical leadership. Emphasis is placed on understanding culture and empowerment in school and sports.

Emphasis is placed on understanding the advantages and disadvantages of different forms of leadership in light of internal organizational conditions and the organization’s external conditions. The students will analyze empirical relationships in light of scientifically based knowledge.

Learning outcome

Knowledge - the student shall:

  • through the presentation and review of key theories of central theories and approaches gain a basic understanding of practical management in physical eduation and sports.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:

  • use central theories and approaches to analyze actual issues in the area of physical education and sports.

Learning methods and activities

4 hours of lectures and 2 hours of group discussion per week in the first half of the semester. The exam will be in the middle of the semester. Learning through practical activities is emphasized.
