Course content
The course will provide an introduction to theory that includes the individual, interaction, and young people's physical activity related to physical education, sports and children's and youth sports. The individual perspective will mainly focus on children and young people's self-perception, motivation, development and learning. The interaction perspective will shed light on social processes and the relationship between different actors (teacher/coach, athlete/student) in physical activity, training, sports and physical education. The young people's physical activity within the framework of physical education and sports is seen in a larger societal perspective.
Learning outcome
Knowledge - the student shall have:
- insight into children and adolescents' development, self-perception and motivation in physical education and sports
- insight into group dynamics and key learning theories that can be related to physical education / sports and children's and youth sports
- insight into the regulations and guidelines for children's and youth sports
Skills - the student shall be able to:
- professionally plan and carry out goal-oriented teaching in physical education/sports or training in children's and youth sports.
- use observation as a tool in the work of professionally evaluating goal-oriented teaching in physical education/sports or training in children's and youth sports.
Learning methods and activities
4 hours lectures and 2 hours group sessions each week. Certain weeks are reserved for writing the assignment/paper. Form om assesment: A semester assignment must be written where the student has academically planned, completed, evaluated (by means of observation) and discussed a goal-oriented teaching lesson intended for physical education/sports subjects (student-led activity). In addition, the student must write a reflection report on group processes. The course is restricted and reserved for students in 5-year lecturer program.
