In this one-year web design programme, you will learn the fundamentals of creating visually appealing and user-friendly digital experiences.
You will develop skills in design principles, project management, and user-centered design, while gaining practical experience in basic web development.
The programme focuses on building a foundation for designing simple, static websites and prepares you for future studies or career opportunities in web design.
This programme is designed for two types of applicants
Students with no prior higher education:
For those who seek university experience before committing to a full three-year degree. Upon completion, you may apply to transfer to the bachelor programmes in Interaction Design or Graphic Design, with the possibility of reusing some of the courses.
Students with a degree in other fields:
You may enhance your skills with practical web design knowledge. It equips you with the tools to design and create simple, static websites, complementing your existing expertise.

Learning outcome
Knowledge
The candidate:
- has basic knowledge of web technology and web design solutions.This includes both basic knowledge of how the web works and an overview of the technological standards used to build web solutions;
- is familiar with processes for development towards various platforms such as mobile phones and other handheld devices;
- has knowledge of what characterises the world wide web as a distribution and interaction platform, its history and place in society.
Skills
The candidate:
- can develop a simple web solution from idea to fully implemented application (static site);
- can work methodically with creative idea creation, teamwork and coding;
- can make informed choices in the work process, as well as reflect on their own work and further develop this under supervision;
- can find and refer to information and subject matter and use this in various projects and tasks;
- masters tools, techniques and methods relevant to web development projects.
General competencies
The candidate:
- has insight into current issues around publishing and social interaction on the web;
- has experienced and participated in processes with planning and implementation of simple web projects, alone and as a participant in a group;
- can, at a basic level, convey relevant subject matter both in writing and orally;
- is able to exchange views and experiences with others with a background in web design.
