Siri Granum Carson - AFINO
Siri Granum Carson
I am director of NTNU Oceans and associate professor of Applied Ethics at NTNU. My background is in philosophy of language and agency. My main research area is corporate social responsibility, focusing on the role of business organization in a globalized economy, specifically in the Nordic context. Working at the Programme for Applied Ethics for more than a decade, I have been teaching research ethics, business ethics and professional ethics at all levels and parts of NTNU, from students to management, from humanities scholars to technologists.
Academia typically rewards narrow specialization, but I strongly believe that we also need to develop skills for cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration in order to solve the grand social and environmental challenges of our time. As director of NTNU Oceans, one of the strategic research areas at NTNU, my job is to “connect the dots” between different parts of ocean science and technology, encouraging that more of the research and innovation take place in the intersections between the disciplines. Being project leader for AFINO allows me to dive even deeper into the art of cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration.
