AuroraSpace visited ArcticX in Odense

ArcticX is a demonstration event for technologies for monitoring the Arctic areas.

On Wednesday 19th of June, Eirik Sivertsen and Roger Birkeland from NTNU visited the ArcticX-demo at Hans Christian Andersen Airport in Odense, Denmark. During this event, the companies in the IRSA (Integrated remote sensing for the Arctic Development Group) demonstrated how different remote sensing platforms can contribute to give operators a more complete situational awareness during a given scenario or mission. For this particular demonstration, an DA-62 aircraft from Andøya Space, an Integrator drone from Boeing and a USV from Maritime Robotics were demonstrated to provide, for example, a video stream into a common display dashboard. The aircraft and the flying drone surveyed the same area, looking for ships. Satellite data from various visual and radar satellites were used to define an area of interest for the flying assets. For logistical reasons, the Maritime Robotics USV was in Trondheim, but nevertheless, it provided video and sensor data into the same dashboard.

In addition to the IDG consortium, other companies contributed with demo of their products and services. AnsuR, a Norwegian company specializing transferring video and image data over a low-bandwidth link had a demo-stream from the flying drone. The company UbiQ (from Trondheim) showcased systems for anti-icing on drones.
