null All partners met at the SFI PhysMet meeting in November

All SFI PhysMet members were invited to the biannual SFI consortium meeting November 1-2, 2023. More than 60 participants from the industry and research partners attended the meeting, which was organized at Nidelven hotel in Trondheim.

In his introduction centre manager Knut Marthinsen gave a short recap on the vision and purpose of the centre, our main activities and status of the centre development.  On day one we focused on scientific highlights. First the Research Area managers presented the main results in a plenary session, and this was followed by parallel sessions for each Research Area, where results and plans for 2024 was discussed in more detail. The parallel sessions gave the partners opportunity to give input and discuss ideas for new projects, including students projects and summer jobs in 2024. 

The topic on day two was Internationalization. Why is  internationalization important and what are the international funding opportunities relevant for SFI PhysMet? An important objective for the SFI centre is to promote and facilitate for internationalization and international networking for centre partners from the research sector as well as the business sector.

PhotoProfessor Dorte Juul Jensen from the Centre's Scientific Advisory Committee shared her thoughts and experiences on ways to improve EU applications and to strengthen international collaboration and impact.  It is of significant value to the centre to get input from external experts, and we highly appreciate Jensen's contributions. 

The consortium meetings are good arenas for exchange of ideas and learning about the latest scientific findings.
