Guest Lecture by Dr Inge Lotsberg, DNVGL, on the Capacity of Grouted Connections Subjected to Dynamic Loading
Abstract
Grout (some cement mix) is being used to connect offshore steel structures (jackets) and wind turbine structures to foundation piles. During the last years it was found that the earlier design methodology was not providing reliable connections and a number of wind turbine structures had to be repaired. The reason for these failures and some of the development of an improved design procedure based on analytical considerations and laboratory fatigue testing will be presented.
About the lecturer:
Dr Inge Lotsberg, DNVGL, has a vast experience relating to structural analysis and design of ships, offshore structures, wind turbines etc; with particular emphasis on fatigue and fracture. He is currently about to complete a comprehensive book on “Fatigue Design of Marine Structures” to be published by Cambridge University Press.
