Prof. Asgeir J. Sørensen receives the SOBENA International Award

Like Prof. Torgeir Moan and Prof. Odd M. Faltinsen before him, Prof. Asgeir J. Sørensen received the SOBENA International Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the progress of naval architecture and ocean engineering.
Prof. Sørensen received the 2016 International SOBENA Award for his outstanding contribution to the field of marine technology, particularly in the area of marine control systems, and in recognition of his commitment to seek innovative solutions in this area.
His work as academic supervisor of Brazilian students at NTNU and his interaction with Brazilian universities, in particularly the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the University of São Paulo (USP), was deemed of great importance for the development of marine control systems research in Brazil.
Prof. Sørensen was handed over the award at the biannual conference of SOBENA, the Brazilian Society of Naval Architecture, Marine and Offshore Engineering, 9 November 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. This conference is the most important and prestigious forum of the maritime industry in Brazil.
