– Learning Outcome
A candidate who has completed the programme of study is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes, defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
- is in the forefront of knowledge within his/her field and masters the field´s philosophy of science and methods
- can apply empirical and theoretical methods that represent the latest knowledge in the field
- has extensive knowledge of and can evaluate the suitability and application of different methods and processes in research and scientific development projects
Skills
- can formulate research questions, plan and carry out research and scientific development
- can carry out research and scientific development of a high international standard within the discipline
- can manage complex academic issues and challenge established knowledge and practice within the field
- can contribute to the development of new knowledge, new theories and methods within the field.
- can deliver scientific analyses of an internationally recognized standard within his/her field.
General competence
- can take a position on relevant ethical issues and carry out his/her research with scientific integrity
- can disseminate research and scientific development through recognized Norwegian and international channels
- can participate in discussions within the field in international forums
- can assess the need for, initiate and carry out scientific development and innovation.
