Master of Science (MSc) in Materials Technology 2-years, Trondheim
Materials Technology
Materials Technology
Come along and realise the future energy society through the development of efficient solar cells, hydrogen storage devices and new nano structured materials for use in superconductors, batteries, fuel cells and catalysts. Become an expert on metal production and recycling, the use of aluminum, steel and titanium in cars, ships, aeroplanes or offshore installations.
Norway is one of the largest exporters of several important materials, and materials technology is one of the priority areas of NTNU and Norwegian industry.
The subject area materials technology is comprehensive and covers the production, processing, manufacturing, use and recycling of materials combined with a basic understanding of how the chemical composition and inner structure of the materials govern their characteristics. Our students will therefore receive lectures from specialists from several departments/faculties. Metals, ceramics, plastics, composites, and a range of functional materials are all parts of the present programme.
Extensive research is conducted at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, which provides opportunities for the students to gain insight into fascinating subject areas related to the main profiles.
You can select one of the following three main profiles:
- Metal Production and Recycling
- Materials Development and Properties
- Materials for Energy Technology
