About the course
Course content
The course further develops students' ability to critically analyse literary works, non-fictional prose, films and/or other popular cultural expressions, building on German Literature and Culture 1 (TYSK1401). The main focus is on literary, cultural or social phenomena in German culture in the period from 1870 to 1945.

- is able to reflect on central concepts, genres and eras within literary and cultural studies, based on the course materials

Lectures, group sessions, supervision and oral presentations.

Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).

Further on evaluation
Assessment: Portfolio consisting of two texts with a total amount of 3200-4000 words and oral exam (30 min). The final grade is adjusted through an oral examination. One of the texts may be a revised version of an obligatory assignment in the course.
The final grade will be listed on official diplomas and transcripts of records from NTNU. The student must pass both the written part of the exam and the oral examination in order to receive a passing grade. If a student fails one or both parts of the exam, they must retake both parts of the exam. The oral examination will be cancelled if the written part of the exam has been failed by the examiners. If a student resits a passed exam, they must retake both parts of the exam. The exam must be answered in German.
Recommended previous knowledge
TYSK1401 or equivalent approved courses. German from Norwegian "videregående skole" (Upper secondary school) with a grade 4 or better, or knowledge of German equivalent to level B1 or better according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required. The course is taught exclusively in German.
