Learning outcome

Learning outcomes - Knowledge:

  • Explain the conceptual framework for strategy.
  • Document in-depth knowledge within the subject area strategy.
  • Use scientific methodology and working methods for the development of written reports.
  • Independently update knowledge in the field, both through literature searches, contact. with the maritime industry, company representations, and by auditing own practice.

Learning Outcome - Skills:

  • Describe in detail strategy as a necessary management tool.
  • Give examples of practical strategy work in the maritime industry.
  • Conduct written and oral presentations of the subject topics.
  • Contribute actively in the design of strategies.

  • Competence to actively participate in professional discussions and have the ability to share their knowledge and experiences with others and contribute to the development of good practice within the subject area.

Learning methods and activities

Lecture, group work, self-study, discussion internally in the group and with corporate strategists.

The lectures will include company presentations where strategists give an introduction to their company's strategy and its role in this.

Mandatory assignments:

The students must attend to 80% of classes.

Portfolio exam (100%) The students must prepare one group assignment and all participants in each group receive the same grade. If a group has not received a grade mark on one or more of the answers in the folder, the group, on condition that all group members agree, Get a folder with improved work at a new and postponed exam. If the student waits for the next ordinary exam, a new assignment must be solved. The student is entitled to a postponed examination only in so far as the student has had a valid absence or has failed. Deferred exam takes place during the postponed exam.
