Course content
Bridge Resourse Management (BRM) Practical BRM exercises in the simulator Search and Rescue (SAR) service Planning and executing SAR operations Managing SAR operation (OSC) Practical SAR exercises in the simulator Respond to emergiencies Principally this course will make the student prepared to operate on the ship bridge in accordance with BRM principles and also be able to efficiently participate in Search And Rescue (SAR) operations and respond to emergencies.This course covers the theoretical requirements in table A-II/1-2 in the STCW convention.
Learning outcome
Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of operational human factor aspects such as interaction, communication and situational awareness on the bridge apply this knowledge efficiently in simulator exercises give account of how international- and Norwegian rescue service is organized demonstrate basic knowledge and be able to apply basic therory and procedures for planning and executing SAR operations, including the responsibility of the On Scene Coordinator (OSC)

Lectures, simulator Mandatory: Attendance to all simulator exercises. Continuous evaluation of performance on simulator exercises.
