Course content
The course is at an advanced level and deals with techniques for use in high-speed navigation. Terminology and organization in 4-phase navigation by: Optical high-speed navigation without electronic aids Blind high-speed navigation without visual confirmation of position
Learning outcome
The candidate must be able to:
Prepare:
- and apply the terminology associated with the topic in writing and orally in Norwegian and English
- safe navigation without electronic aids
- safe navigation without visual confirmatrion of position
- and use 4 phase navigation methodology
Plan:
- safe sailing with high-speed optical navigation
- safe sailing by blind navigation at high speed
- efficient communication using correct terminology to ensure sailing at high speed
- efficient use of bridge resources to ensure sailing at high speed
Perform:
- apply methodology for safe high-speed optical and blind navigation
- voyage in accordance with the applicable rules for the waters in which the vessel is located
- sail in accordance with international rules to avoid collisions at sea (Maritime rules)
- quality assurance of information from available navigation aids, use varied methods, modes and tools in the control of navigation aids to ensure the quality of the vessel's position in relation to the route plan and the surroundings.
Evaluate:
- Which tools are best suited to secure the voyage at all times
- The quality of own planning, route plan and implementation of the voyage
- The quality of information from navigation aids
- The development of own professional skills in the subject
- Own experiences and actively participate in professional discussions with others and contribute to the development of good practice
