- communication ship to shore like mobile broadband and satellite
- tools for verification and troubleshooting like ping, traceroute, nslookup and netstat
- cybercrime and information security

- understand and be able to use key concepts within the field of information technology
- explain how computer networks are built
- explain the function of common components in maritime computer networks
- identify current threats to information security

- be able to identify common components in computer networks for ships
- assemble and configure a single data network
- use common diagnostic tools for verification and troubleshooting on computer networks
- ensure basic security on personal devices and services

- understand the importance of well-functioning information systems for the efficient operation of ships
