Regulations for preventing collisions at sea International Code of SignalsSRC (Short Range Certificate):GMDSS Sea Area A1 IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP)

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The candidate - has thorough knowledge of national and international rules for the prevention of collisions at sea. Good knowledge of maritime terminology in Norwegian and English

Skills: The candidate - must be able to maintain a safe bridge watch, including applying principles for safe guarding and effective bridge procedures -should be able to account for and safely apply the regulations for preventing collisions at sea. Must be able to communicate correctly in Norwegian and English in the exercise of navigational watch. Must be able to understand international signal rules

General competence: The candidate -should be able to convey knowledge in the field to different target groups - must be able to actively participate in professional discussions and the ability to share their knowledge and experiences with others and contribute to the development of good practice.

Lectures, Simulator exercises, navigation laboratory, individual and group work
