Terrestrial navigation Astronomical navigation
Learning outcome
The candidate shall have in-depth knowledge in classical and basic navigation methods according to relevant sections of STCW Chapter II / 1 and II / 2 and STCW Code A-II / 1 Functional Navigation at Operational Level and STCW Code A-II / 2 functional navigation at the management level In-depth knowledge of radio communication with DSC at operational level Knowledge of receiving information by means of optical telegraphing Learning Outcomes - Skills could solve theoretical, technical and practical issues related to basic navigation of ships. could use methods, simulators and other tools that provide the basis for navigating ships safely and efficiently and contribute to both analytical, structured, targeted and innovative work. be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of navigation-related geodetic themes such as the Earth's form, coordinate system, geodetic dates and general maplists could use terrestrial and astronomical navigation methods. Using safe coastal navigation methods could maintain a secure emergency response, including applying principles for safe guard and effective breeding procedures. Explain the roadmap rules Could use VHF radio with DSC at operational level to send and receive information by means of optical telegraphing. Learning Outcome - General competence could convey knowledge in the subject area to different target groups, both written and oral in Norwegian and English, could actively participate in professional discussions and ability to share their knowledge and experience with others and contribute to the development of good practice.
