About the course
Course content
Important topics are mineralogical, chemical and textural properties affecting production and use of minerals. Characterisation of minerals and rocks and their different products using differnt techniques such as light microscopy, image analysis, SEM, electron microproble and particle analysis to determine size, shape and surface. Relationships between primary properties of minerals/rocks and their usefulness as raw materials for different purposes. Marked and price structure of minerals. Mineral production.
Learning outcome
To give the students thorough knowledge of different material properties which has importance for an economic exploitation of raw mineral resources.
Learning methods and activities
Exercises, lectures, literatur studies, excursion.
Project/exercises count 50% of the final mark.

TGB4110 Resources of the Earth and TGB4125 Mineralogy/Petrography.
