Course content
The course can only be taken by students in year 4 and 5 i the 5 year master's program.
In the course, the student will do independent work in a company, and take part in collaborative assignments given by or with the company. The content of the internship must be approved by external organization in consultation with the department before the internship period starts. By working for a longer period of time with a specific task in an organization or a research project, the student will gain insight into practical problem solving in a job situation. The internship can be useful for making one's own competence visible, establishing networks and establishing contacts within the field. The student is assigned a contact person who is responsible for the student in the period. This person will have close follow-up of the student throughout the semester, so that the student will at all times have academically relevant tasks.

- how an organization can utilize and benefit from economic analyses
- how economic models can be used in a work setting
Skills
You must be able to:
- work on a project for a business, where economics is applied
- make professional assessment independently and in cooperation with the supervisor
- carry out economic analyzes at a high professional level
- apply and communicate economics, written and orally in a work setting
General competence
You must be able to:
- work well with people who have a different professional background than yourself
- work independently, organize and plan your own work within given deadlines

Learning methods
- Through participation in a business, the student will experience what it is like to use economics in working life. The student is given relevant work assignments and gains experience in how to handle these. The form of learning is therefore practical experience
Activities
- Student applies for the internships offered. Allocation of internships takes place in the company's preferred way, by application, application processing and allocation of internships. It does not guarantee a place for those who apply for Internship
- The student must actively participate in the activities where the internship is carried out
- The student must attend a compulsory seminar at the end of the internship period
Mandatory activities
The course has two compulsory work requirements that must be passed in order to be assessed:
- Oral presentation on the summary day must be completed
- The internship activities and subject supervisor must approve that the internship period has been completed as expected

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Economics (MSØK/5)
Recommended previous knowledge
- The student should normally have completed at least 45 credits of a variety of method courses at university level. Examples of courses that we offer will be: SØK1001, SØK1004, SØK1005, SØK3001, SØK3004
- The student can not already be working with the partner.
- The student can not receive payment for the work done in the internship
- The course will have a limited admission, and the number of available places may vary from year to year.
Required previous knowledge
- The student must be admitted to the master's program MSØK/5 at the Department of Economics
