Course content

The course NORD3103 is a specialized subject focusing on a central Nordic author's work. Students read 4-5 literary works and 200-300 pages of biographical work, theory, secondary- and scholarly literature.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • the candidate has detailed insight into a central Nordic author's work, its reception history, and the period the author was active

Skills:

The candidate is able to

  • provide a cohesive presentation of a central Nordic author's work
  • analyze one (or more) works in light of the author's key characteristics
  • utilize and demonstrate knowledge of research into the author's work

Learning methods and activities

Seminars with active student participation.

Course requirements:

- Approved reading list

- Up to 2 approved written assignments (determined by lecturer). Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).

Obligatory activities from a previous semester may be approved by the department.

Assessment: 7-day take-home exam. Scope approx. 4000 words.

Required previous knowledge

Admission to the Master's programme in Scandinavian Studies or Language Studies with Teacher Education.
