Learning outcome
By the end of the term students should be able to understand normal conversation, including different dialect variations. Students must be able to read a wide range of genuine Norwegian texts, and in oral and written presentations students will be expected to master different styles.
The aim of the course is to help students become familiar with various forms of Norwegian and to help them learn to use Norwegian to express themselves, both orally and in writing, in a precise, nuanced manner. At the end of the course, the candidate should have the following knowledge and skills:

- The candidate's level of knowledge is equivalent to Level C1/C2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- The candidate has knowledge about the language situation in Norway
SKILLS:
The candidate

Further on evaluation
The written part of the exam is 6 hours combined. The exam tests comprehension (e.g. dictation), grammar, vocabularies and text writing. Dictionaries are not allowed during the written exam. The written exam will be in Norwegian bokmål.
The oral exam lasts 15-20 minutes. The basis of the oral exam can be either reading of an unfamiliar text or a discussion based on topics covered in the required reading. Students may use a dictionary when reading the unfamiliar text.
Separate grades are given for the written and the oral exam. In the final grade the written exam counts 2/3 while the oral exam counts 1/3. Both the written and the oral exam need to be passed in order to pass the exam. Students must retake both parts if they fail either part.
Approved examination's requirements are valid for 4 semesters.
