Course content

The course consists of principal instrument lessons and other subject areas within classical music, church music or jazz. The course is used for students who only take one semester of exchange studies. The course is taken by incoming exchange students at NTNU during their stay, and NTNU students in the semester they are not abroad in that academic year.

Learning outcome

The aim of the course is for the student to develop their own skills and provide increased professional knowledge within their own instrument and subject area.

Learning methods and activities

By agreement, the student follows the teaching in the courses given to the department's own students at the corresponding level. The subjects are specified in a learning agreement for incoming students, and in the study plan for students at NTNU who are on exchange for one semester.

Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction requires a minimum of 80% attendance.

Further on evaluation

The assessment consists of a practical exam on the student's principal instrument, which corresponds to the level and range of repertoire that applies to the year the student carries out their exchange studies in. The practical exam will include an oral questioning for students who have taken part in theoretical courses.

Music Performance (MMUSP)
Music Performance Studies (BMUSP)
Music Performance Studies - Jazz (BMUSK)

Required previous knowledge

Admission to a study programme in music performance studies at a cooperating institution, as well as an exchange stay at performing music studies at NTNU, or exchange studies abroad for one semester for students on a study programme in music performance studies at NTNU.
