Course content

General electrical theory; electrical circuits, DC, AC power, three-phase electricity. Production and distribution of electricity. Electrical systems; components, installations, electrical safety. Electrical motors. Electro heat .Control of HVAC systems. Automatic system; components; construction, central operation. Process regulation; PID regulation.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The candidate has knowledge of Electricity production and distribution Electrical circuits, DC current, AC and three-phase power Electric motors, with emphasis on asynchronous motors Components and installations in electrical systems Electrical heating Various system solutions and components in automatic systems PID control Facilities for central operation control Skills: The candidate can read, project and construct automatic systems for HVAC systems. General competence: The candidate can communicate with architects, electronic advisors, electricians and other actors in the construction industry about electrical engineering in buildings Convey insight about the possibilities and limitations of electrical installations, automation and management of HVAC systems to different user groups. Discuss opportunities for innovation and further development of automation solutions for HVAC systems

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, project thesis, exercises, laboratory exercises and excursions/practical activities. Two-and-a-three of the dispensed exercises must be approved. All laboratory exercises must be approved. Mandatory project task. Mandatory excursions/practical activities with reports and presentations.

Examination arrangement: oral exam. Grade: Letter A-F. A. Permitted examination aids according to Support material code D: No printed or hand-written support material is allowed. A specific basic calculator is allowed. Approved compulsory activity (exercises, excursion and semester assignments) will be valid for all subsequent exams in the course.
