Course content
The course provides an introduction to various speech and language disorders that follow a stroke, traumatic brain injury or dementia. Various mapping and teaching methods for rehabilitation are addressed.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
The course will give the student basic knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects related to speech and language difficulties for people with aphasia and or other acquired speech and language disorders, including knowledge of methods and tools for assessment and treatment in speech therapy.
Skills:
After completing the course, the student should be able to use different methods of speech terapy assessment and treatment tools in order to plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation for people with aphasia and for people with other acquired conditions that lead to speech and language disorders.
General competence:
After completing the course, the student should be able to use various methods for identifying and assessing aphasia, apraxia of speech, dysarthria and primary progressive aphasia, choose relevant assessment tools and analyze assessment results, implement and evaluate measures/treatment, as well as reflect on one’s own practice and relate it to relevant theory.

Lectures and plenary discussions. The course has mandatory requirements. It is assumed that all students regularly use the current learning platform.

Academic requirements to be assessed and to sit the exam: You must have attended 80% of the teaching. Only one’s own and one’s child's illness or the like are valid reasons for absence.
In order to be able to sit for the exam, you must have passed the practicum and have mandatory requirements approved.
