Course content

In order to deal with linguistic phenomena, specialist literature and resources, one must know how languages ​​are connected structurally. This course provides a general introduction to linguistic terms and analysis tools within e.g. phonology, syntax, morphology and semantics. The main purpose will be to provide the students with general aids to be able to deal with natural language and linguistic variation in relevant areas.

Learning outcome

The content and focus may vary somewhat with practical circumstances, but after taking the course, students should normally, as a minimum:

- Be familiar with basic linguistic terms, phenomena and variation.

- Know and be able to use the most important academic tools to describe normal language and deviations from this.

Lectures and plenary discussions. The course has mandatory requirements. It is assumed that all students regularly use the current learning platform.

Academic requirements to be assessed and to sit the exam: To be allowed to sit the exam, the student must have attended 80% of the lectures and have two mandatory assignments approved.
