French literature.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
Candidates who have passed this course
- have knowledge of periods in French literary history from the Enlightenment until today.
- have acquired the necessary vocabulary to describe the different literary periods.
- have a command of the stylistic vocabulary necessary for them to describe characteristics of different texts.
Skills:
Candidates who have passed this course
- can reflect upon aesthetical principles within a historical perspective and compare these to principles relating to contemporary literature.
- can analyse French texts from different genres and different periods.
General competence:
Candidates who have passed this course
- can understand how they and others acquire foreign languages.
- can reflect on the link between language and identity.
- can adjust their behaviour and communication to different cultures.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and seminars. All lectures and seminars are compulsory.
Distribution of teaching hours:
3 full hours x 14 weeks of lectures
1.5 full hours x 14 weeks of seminars/ individual tutoring
Compulsory assignments
- Mandatory attendance in all teaching activities, including excursions and conferences
- Written assignment

The exam must be answered in French.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
French with Didactics (ÅFRANCAEN)
Recommended previous knowledge
FRAC1100 French Literature and Culture, or equivalent courses.
Required previous knowledge
Requires admission to the one-year programme in French with didactics in Caen.
