Course content

The course covers key periods in French history after 1500. The course gives an overview of important developments, and central issues in French history. The approach is historical, and the aim is to learn about history in order to understand contemporary society.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars.

Teaching is in French. Approved obligatory assignments are valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.

Compulsory assignments

  • Oral presentation (15 min)
  • Written assignment (2000 words)

Further on evaluation

The exam must be answered in French. Information about which dictionaries, if any, you are allowed to consult during the written exam will be available in the reading list at the beginning of the semester.
